In the recently held T20 match, West Indies women played a fantastic game; the team made a commendable effort. The captain of the team, Stafanie Taylor, scored a half-century. This was one of the main reasons for the victory of the team. Ireland scored a total of 75 whereas the West Indies team scored 139. West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. The 20 over match saw Taylor scoring 75 from 53 balls. Most of the other players scored in the low ranges. Britney Cooper scored 17 runs and Shemaine Campbelle scored 20 runs. At the end of the 10th over, the joint partnership between Cooper and Taylor had gotten the score up to 50. It was at this juncture that Cooper was dismissed by Sophie MacMohan.
West Indies’ Batting Performance
Campbelle and Taylor made a decent partnership to bring the final score up to 139. Ireland tried giving a good chase but the fielding response from the West Indies team was too good. Afy Fletcher and Chinelle Henry managed to take 6 wickets which made for a substantial loss for Ireland. The Ireland team suffered the loss of wickets one after the other. The highest number of runs for Ireland was scored by Kin Garth. She managed to score 46 runs off 55 balls before having to leave the field due to an lbw.
Ireland’s Batting Performance
The captain of the Ireland team suffered an injury after being hit by a ball. She wasn’t able to bat and so the team was relying on the other members to get them through the game. Gaby Lewis was the first wicket down on the Ireland team. Garth tried playing her best but since wickets kept tumbling, it was a tough situation for the Ireland team. At the time when the team had 34 runs, 4 wickets were already down. Fletcher played an excellent role in ensuring that the number of wickets kept piling up one after the other. The Ireland team lasted for 18.4 overs and could not manage to accumulate the necessary score of 139.
West Indies women’s team won the match by a huge margin of 64 runs.
