In continuing our summer series from the Surviving the Summer Heat, it is vital that we showcase some of the refreshing and healthy beverages. This list of beverages should definitely be included in what you will consume this summer, as we are also mindful of the health benefits that they possess. As the degrees reach record heights and the heat just seems to be “oh so overbearing”, find a cool spot and take a drink of one of these five beverages:
Water is a must have, and we need to replenish ourselves with this needed liquid. As the heat gets too much, take a drink of water in order to maintain blood circulation as well as to maintain the body’s temperature. Dehydration can be a common condition in the summer time. Remember to drink that H20!
In Jamaica, we all know of a Jelly Man… make sure to get one of the cool drinks that he offers. This is one important beverage as it has loads of nutrients. Coconut water contains potassium, electrolytes and amino acids. This beverage also assist with keeping your electrolyte level balanced.
This is an easy-to-make and refreshing drink that you should definitely provide in your get togethers with friends and family. This also has loads of nutrients. It is great for indigestion and the Vitamin C certainly helps with boosting the immune system.
As the time is hot, we might prefer high-water content juices instead of pure juice mixes. Infused water should certainly be an addition to your diet. In this way, you can gain some of the nutrients from your favourite fruits and vegetables. Some common ingredients in infused water are cucumbers, apples, lemons, mint, basil and ginger.
