Something went wrong.
We are currently experiencing a life-changing pandemic, which has greatly impacted all of our lives in many ways. During this quarantine period, some have been given the privilege of working from the comfort and safety of their homes, but others have been sent home with no certainty of when they’ll be able to start working again. On the other hand, many teachers and students are having difficulties adapting to the new circumstances and are facing challenges that they could never have expected. Despite all of these challenges and setbacks, we should always look at the brighter side and make the best of what we have right now. We are all stuck at home for now and have a lot more free time than ever before that we should put to good use!
Pick Up A New or Forgotten Hobby
Everyone has at least one thing they enjoy doing but can never find the time to focus on it. Thanks to quarantine, we now have some extra time that we may use to return to these hobbies and even find new ones. In case you’re not sure where to start, here are some ideas:
Learn and Practice New Skills
Expanding your skillset is a very good way to use up some of the extra time on your hands. At this time, YouTube is our best friend that is very useful in teaching us so many things without having to even leave our homes. Think of a skill that could be useful to you, search online to find tutorials and ‘How To’ videos and then do your best to follow along and practice regularly.
Explore Job Vacancies
Whether or not you already have a job, looking around for other opportunities is something that should be done on a regular basis. You never know what other positions are out there for you if you don’t search for them!
Clean and Renovate Your Home
Cleaning and reorganizing your environment are said to be a healthy way of relieving stress and also improves your ability to function and focus better in your space. For example, cleaning your desk and work area can, in some cases, motivate persons to want to do their work rather than in a messy and disorganized area.
Take Extra Care of Your Body
Sitting in your home, day after day can have a negative impact on your activity and eating habits, leading to possible health disruptions. In these times, having regular eating and exercise schedules are very critical to maintaining your health and taking care of your body. At the beginning of each day, try to have somewhat of a meal plan to stick to. Also, pick an hour out of each day in which you will focus only on your routine exercise, but be sure to never skip a day!
Broaden Your Knowledge
Use this time at home to study more about the subjects you are interested in that may help you in your education or future careers. Read books and scholarly articles on different topics and you’ll be amazed at what you can learn just by doing your own research. Also, there are a few websites and schools that are now currently offering online classes to accommodate those of us who are stuck at home. You can never have too much knowledge!
Make Plans and Set Goals
Now that most of us are at home and fairly more relaxed than usual, your mind now has space for you to think about some more important things, like your future. Get a pen and paper and start writing down some goals that you wish to achieve in the future and what you hope to be doing sometime soon in your life. Next, think about the steps you need to take to push yourself further to meeting these targets and write those down as well. All that’s left to do is to stay motivated and keep working towards your goals!
Get Closer with Those Around You
Find ways to connect with those you are quarantined with and treasure this time you have with them. Spend more time with your family and even engage in some board games and card games while you have the chance. Just remember, everyone will soon be returning to their usual routines and will again find it hard to make time for the ones they love.
Remember to stay safe! Stay indoors and ensure you are taking care of yourself and others around you. Take advantage of this quarantine period while you still can!
