One Agency, One Goal

The National Land Agency invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions within the Land Valuation Division:


South East Region – 1 post

North East Region – 2 posts

South Region – 4 posts

West Region – 2 posts

The successful candidates will report to the Senior Valuation Surveyor


Job Purpose

To provide assistance in the maintenance of the Valuation Roll and to undertake the valuation of properties as requested by the internal divisions, other ministries, departments, and agencies.


Key Responsibilities

Technical/Professional Responsibilities

Undertakes all amendments to the Valuation Roll as assigned

Conducts field inspections in order to identify properties and conduct investigations

Interviews land owners to investigate ownership/possessory interests and to ascertain other pertinent information

Conducts referencing (coding) exercises through field investigations to improve the accuracy of the Cadastral Index Map

Conducts property and market related research

Undertakes the classification and analysis of comparable sale/rental data

Conducts inspection of property to determine ‘tone of the list’, special features, physical characteristics, use and production levels etc.

Conducts measurements of buildings and other structures

Compiles report on findings and makes recommendations, where appropriate

Undertakes the inspection, and classification of properties

Applies approved valuation standards as directed

Reviews applications to ensure completeness and accordance with statutory requirements

Processes LAMD and Objection cases, and

Undertakes non-specialised valuations of low complexity and value.

Other Responsibilities

Keeps abreast of local, academic and professional trends through research and participation in seminars and related events;

Participates in team efforts to achieve Divisional and Agency goals;

Performs other related duties assigned from time to time by the Senior Valuation Surveyor


Required Skills/Competencies

Knowledge of the statutes and regulations relating to the Land Valuation Division, including the Land Valuation Act.

Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel

Good map reading skills


Minimum Required Qualifications

B.Sc. Real Estate Management & Valuation (formerly Land Economy and Valuation Surveying) or, a similar qualification in the field of Estate Management/Valuation, at the B.Sc. level, or

A Diploma in Land Economy and Valuation Surveying, or similar qualification, with a minimum of five (5) years post diploma experience working in the field of valuations.

Frequent and extensive travelling

Exposure to harmful environments (contaminated land, parasites etc.)

Exposure to the elements of weather (extreme heat, torrential rain)

Exposure to areas with high levels of social unrest
