Job Description

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the post of:

Senior Secretary (OPS/SS 3) – Vacant – Human Resource Development Unit

 

Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Director, Human Resource Development (GMG/SEG 3), the Senior Secretary (OPS/SS 3) performs secretarial, data management and receptionist functions in the Unit and provides general administrative support to the Centre Managers and provides training and other routine activities to staff.

Proficient in Typewriting at a speed of 50-55 w.p.m.

Knowledge of the operations of Government

 

Minimum Required Qualification/Experience

Two or more passes in CXC /GCE O’ Level subjects including English Language

Successful completion of the Certificate in Administrative Management-Level 2 at Management Institute for National Development or any Accredited Secretarial Studies

Proficiency in Typewriting at 50-55 words per minute, Shorthand at 100-120 words per minute

4-5 years general office experience

OR

Graduate from an accredited school of Secretarial Studies

Proficiency in Typewriting at a speed of 50-55 words per minute and Shorthand at a speed of 100-120 words per minute

Training in the use of a variety of Software Applications e.g. Word Processing, Database and Spreadsheets

English Language at CXC or GCE O’ Level

Successful completion of the Certificate in Administrative Management –Level 2 at the Management Institute for National Development

4-5 years general office experience

OR

Successful completion of the Certified Professional Secretary Course,

Proficient Typewriting at a speed of 50-55 words per minute and Shorthand at a speed of 100 – 120 words per minute

English Language at CXC or GCE O’ Level

Training in the use of a variety of Software Applications e.g. Word Processing, Database and Spreadsheets

Successful completion of the Certificate in Administrative Management –Level 2 at the Management Institute for National Development

4-5 years general office experience
