In 2015 the success story of the RJRGleaner Communications Group (formerly known as the RJR Communications Group) became intrinsically linked with that of The Gleaner Company Limited (now trading as 1834 Investments Limited), when the two media giants signed an agreement to amalgamate their media businesses. The scheme of arrangement for amalgamation was approved by Gleaner and RJR shareholders, sanctioned by the Supreme Court, and the merger was concluded in March of 2016. The amalgamation saw The Gleaner Company (Media) Limited merged into the group immediately expanding its portfolio of media services, growing the number of markets in which the group operated and enhancing an already rich content base with great export potential. The group now has Jamaica’s richest archive of its history – dating back 180 years with print- that is before Emancipation, consolidated with an equally rich broadcast archive dating back decades. RJRGleaner Communications Group is the hub for the most comprehensive media record of Jamaica’s development..
